Week 2 NFL DFS Tight End (TE) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Tight End Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the TE position for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.

Top Play

Hunter Henry ($6,100 FD, $5,100 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Chiefs 19.75 58.0 4.0 13.80

There are a lot of elite tight ends in great spots this week but Henry is my favorite for several reasons. The first of those reasons is the way he looked in week one. Henry had eight targets in week one which was tied for second-most among the position and turned those targets into five catches for 73 yards. Dating back to last season that is now three straight games for Henry with at least five catches and at least 40 yards receiving. The second reason I like Henry the most this week is the match-up with the Chiefs. The Chiefs have struggled against tight ends for a number of seasons now and are coming off a season in which they ranked in the bottom five in receptions allowed and receiving yards allowed to tight ends. The last reason why I like Henry this week is he is a bit cheaper than some of the other elite tight ends on this slate and I personally want to spend up at running back this week so every bit of savings I can get is going to help me achieve that goal.

Mid-Tier Play

Noah Fant ($5,300 FD, $4,400 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Steelers 17.25 39.0 5.0 6.40

The Steelers defend tight ends well and are not normally a team that I target tight ends against. With that being said I love what we saw from Fant in week one. Fant caught five passes on six targets for 81 yards and a score. This week we should see Fant who has been hyped as a breakout candidate this season we similar targets especially if Courtland Sutton and KJ Hamler the Broncos top two wideouts are out with injury once again this week.

Value Play

Logan Thomas ($4,700 FD, $3,600 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Cardinals 20.25 56.0 6.0 9.50

There was a lot of hype on Thomas in the offseason and through week one he lived up to the hype. Against the Eagles, Thomas saw eight targets which were just behind Dallas Goedert for most targets by a tight end. Thomas turned those targets into four catches for 37 yards and a score on his way to 13.7 fantasy points. This week I am expecting we see a similar type of performance from Thomas as he gets an elite match-up against the Cardinals. The Cardinals allowed six catches to tight ends in week one a season after allowing the third-most receptions, most receiving yards, most receiving touchdowns, and most fantasy points per game to the position.

GPP Play

Jordan Reed ($4,800 FD, $2,600 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Receptions Allowed Per Game to TEs Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to TEs
Jets 24.75 26.0 2.0 3.60

We all know the story of Reed. Reed when healthy is an elite playmaker but he has not been healthy in several years and is one hit away from his career being ended. It is for that reason that the Redskins moved on from Reed and he is now backing up George Kittle in the bay. While I normally would avoid an injury-prone player like Reed he is a player to watch this week as there looks to be a chance that Kittle doesn’t suit up this week. If Kittle is out we might just see one last big game from the former pro bowler.
