Week 2 NFL DFS Quarterbacks (QB) Targets For FanDuel & DraftKings

Welcome to the FC Insights Quarterback Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the QB position for each DFS week of the 2020-2021 NFL DFS season.

Top Play

Aaron Rodgers ($7,900 FD, $6,900 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Lions 26.75 214.0 3 24.3

I am not sure if Rodgers is back to being the great quarterback we saw several years ago after two subpar seasons but boy did he look great against the Vikings. In that game, Rodgers threw for 364 passing yards, four touchdowns, and scored 33.76 fantasy points. Each of those numbers ranked in the top two for the week. Now, I mentioned I am not sure if Rodgers can keep up this pace throughout the season I don’t think he slows down this week against the Lions. After looking strong in the first half against the Bears the Lions defense completely fell apart and looked like the awful secondary we saw from a year ago. Last season the Lions allowed the most passing yards per game, fourth-most passing touchdowns, and fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

Mid-Tier Play

Ben Roethlisberger ($7,500 FD, $6,300 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Broncos 24.50 247.0 2 19.4

I am not the hugest Big Ben fan in the world but when healthy there is no denying he is an elite quarterback and he looked healthy on Monday Night against the Giants. In that game, Roethlisberger threw three touchdown passes with no interceptions on his way to 22.06 fantasy points. Now, the yardage wasn’t great at only 229 yards nor were the attempts at just 32 and both of those numbers might be an issue long term but they are not a concern for me for at least this week as the Broncos defense doesn’t look to be as elite as it has been in seasons past especially with the loss of Von Miller who suffered a season-long injury right before the season started.

Value Play

Mitchell Trubisky ($7,200 FD, $5,500 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Giants 24.00 208.0 3 22.1

I was a huge fan of Trubisky last week and after a rough first half, he was able to finish with a great day with three touchdown passes and no interceptions on his way to 24.28 fantasy points. Dating back to last season that is the fifth time in his past seven games that Trubisky has been able to produce 20 fantasy points. I am expecting Trubisky to hit that mark again this week as I am a huge fan of the match-up against the Giants. The Giants let Ben Roethlisberger throw for three scores on Monday Night and last season they also were not good against the pass. A year ago the Giants allowed the seventh-most passing touchdowns, the fifth-most passing touchdowns, and the third-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.

GPP Play

Tom Brady ($7,600 FD, $6,500 DK)

Opponent Team Total Opponent Passing Yards Allowed Per Game Opponent Total Passing Touchdowns Allowed Opponent Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to QBs
Panthers 29.00 239.0 1 13.6

I am the biggest Brady hater in the world as I don’t think he is as good as people are making him out to be and think most of his success was due to the system in New England. For that reason, I was ecstatic to see him struggle in week one as it helped reinforce my thoughts on him as a player. With that being said I do think Brady can still have some big games in him especially in Bruce Arians’ system and this is the week I think we see one of those big games. The reason why I think this is due to the match-up against the Panthers. Yes, the Panthers shut down Derek Carr sort off as they only allowed 13.6 fantasy points to Carr their defense did not look good. Carr was not sacked in that game, completed 73.3% of his passes, and if it wasn’t for Josh Jacobs running all over the Panthers Carr would likely have been forced to throw the ball more than he did.
