NHL Advanced DFS Cheat Sheets for Sunday, August 2

NHL Advanced DFS Cheat Sheets | Sunday, August 2, 2020

Looking for a quick consolidated list of options to play today?  Let’s take a look at our DraftKings and FanDuel Cheat Sheets to help navigate today’s slate!

The first day of NHL action was fast and furious, including a couple of big upsets as the Hawks stormed out of the gates to overwhelm Edmonton 6-4, while the Habs netted an OT winner to knock off the Penguins.  On Sunday, we have another 5 games of action with some high flying teams in action like Boston and Toronto.  Let’s have a look at some ways to attack the slate today!

  • The Leafs are one of the best offensive teams in hockey, and have notoriously had great starts to seasons, led by Auston Matthews, who has always started out of the gate strong…registering 35 points in the first 5 games over the course of the past 4 seasons (20 games in total).  For the Leafs, you can opt to stack TOR 1 (Matthews-Nylander-Hyman), TOR 2 (Tavares-Marner-Mikheyev), or TOR PP1 (Matthews-Tavares-Marner-Nylander-Barrie), with my favourite approach to them being the PP unit, rolling combinations of it through my builds.
  • COL1 is the best line in hockey, and going up against STL, they are in tough for this one.  With that said, even with the tough match-up, I think they are worth sprinkling into your builds for ~15-20% exposure…they are an elite option that should be modestly owned.
  • For a stack that shouldn’t garner too much interest given the firepower on Sunday’s slate, I love this spot for the Canucks, going up against the Wild.  I mentioned yesterday in the article that I’ll be favouring young teams, at least early on – and Vancouver fits that bill with plenty of young firepower.  My favourite options are Petterson, Horvat and Quinn Hughes on the back end along with Markstrom in net.  I’ll have significant exposure to all of them, and I think they’ll be lower owned than they should be.  If you are looking for a full line stack, my favourite here is VAN2, which has three pieces of PP 1 (Petterson-Toffoli-Miller).

Check out the cheat sheets below for some of my favourite options when it comes to building line-ups for Sunday’s action!  Just a reminder that DraftKings Main slate includes all 5 games, while FanDuel’s only includes the three night games!
