The WNBA Rundown – FanDuel & DraftKings WNBA DFS Picks – August 1, 2020 (8/1/20)

Welcome to the WNBA Rundown for FanDuel and DraftKings contests on Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Today lock is three hours earlier than normal at 4 PM EST time so please don’t forget to double-check your lineups

Guards to Target

Jewell Loyd ($7,200 DK/$5,000 FD)- Loyd is averaging just 9.33 points and just 15.3 fantasy points per game but I love her today as Sue Bird is taking the day off. With Bird out we should see Loyd play close to 30 minutes in this game and we know that Loyd is a gunner as she has a usage rate well over 25% so far this season. Loyd’s averages are also a bit skewed as she only produced 4.5 fantasy points in the Storms last game after producing at least 17 fantasy points in each of her first two games of the season. We also know that the Sparks have had some trouble defending the three-point line this season which is a boost for Loyd as well.

Ariel Atkins ($7,400 DK/$5,400 FD)- Atkins has been so good this season. In her three games which includes a game, she played limited minutes due to a blowout victory Atkins is averaging 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, and 1.66 steals. Atkins is averaging just shy of a fantasy point per minute and has at least 27 fantasy points in each of the two games that she has played her full allotment of minutes which she should paly today. Atkins has not only been great this season but I am a huge fan of the match-up against the Sky as their games tend to be high scoring as they love to push the pace.

DeWanna Bonner ($12,000 DK/$8,000 FD)- Bonner is the most expensive player on both sites today by a wide margin and is likely going to be the most popular player by a wide margin. Normally I like to fade players who are both expensive and chalky but I cannot do that with Bonner as she has been that good this season. In her three games this season, Bonner leads the WNBA in scoring at 27.3 points per game, is fourth in rebounds per game at 10.3, tenth in assists per game at 4.3, and third in steals per game at two. Bonner has at least 40 fantasy points in each of her three games and has back-to-back games with at least 50 fantasy points. Her 51.2 fantasy points per game are nearly seven points higher than the next closet player in that category. Bonner is truly a fade at your own risk type of player right now.

Forwards to Target

Azura Stevens ($9,500 DK/$5,200 FD)- Stefanie Dolson has already been ruled out for today and that means we need to fire up Stevens once again. In the past two games with Dolson out, Stevens has played over 30 minutes and is averaging 18.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, two assists, three steals+blocks, and 41.4 fantasy points.

Aerial Powers ($8,700 DK/$6,000 FD)- Powers is going to be the least popular of the three Mystics forwards but she might be my favorite of the bunch as she is a lot cheaper than the other two and has played just as well. Powers has scored in double-figures in two of her three games this season and has produced at least 23 fantasy points in each of those games.
