Welcome to the Daily MLB Rundown for FantasyDraft contests on Saturday, August 1, 2020.
Pitchers to Target
My favorite pitchers are ranked below in order that I want to roster them.
Tyler Glasnow ($17.900)- In limited innings in his opener Glasnow was just downright nasty. In his four innings, Glasnow stuck out nine while allowing just one run on his way to 23.2 fantasy points. With a higher pitch count on tap tonight as well as a match-up against a bad Orioles lineup, I am expecting even bigger things from Glasnow in this one. Do make sure to watch the weather in this game before locking in Glasnow as this game does have some rain chances.
Tyler Chatwood ($16,300)- Going with a second Tyler here this time in Chatwood who was also excellent in his first start. In that start against the Brewers, Chatwood allowed one run while striking out eight in six innings of action on his way to 28.5 fantasy points. Chatwood didn’t just look fantastic in that start but targeting the Pirates with pitchers has been a winning strategy to start the season. So far this season the Pirates rank dead last in team wOBA while having the fifth-highest team K rate against right-handed pitching.
Jordan Lyles ($15,300)- I am not sure how deep Lyles is going to pitch in this game after pitching two innings three days ago but even if he only pitches four innings tonight I think he is a great value as the Giants are bad against right-handed pitching. The Giants rank 18th in team wOBA and 21st in team ISO with a 25.1% team K rate so far this season against right-handed pitching.
Hitters to Target
My favorite stacks are ranked below in order that I want to roster them.
Rockies/Padres- Coors Field did not disappoint last night with 24 total hits four of which left the park and 15 total runs and shouldn’t disappoint tonight as both Joey Lucchesi and Kyle Freeland are average pitchers at best.
Rays- The Rays are the team that I like pivoting too off of the chalk on this slate as they take on Wade LeBlanc. The veteran LeBlanc has just been bad as of late with an ERA of 5.74, a WHIP of 1.42, and an HR/9 rate of 2.1 since the start of last season. The Rays right-handed hitters are the preferred targets as righties slashed .296/.340/.516 with a .356 wOBA against LeBlanc last season but the lefties are also in play as LeBlanc was worst against lefties a year ago allowing them to slug .595 with a .369 wOBA.
Some other hitters not on the Rays or hitting at Coors Field that I really like tonight can be found in today’s Cheat Sheet.
