Welcome to the WNBA Rundown for FanDuel and DraftKings contests on Thursday, July 30, 2020.
Had another very successful night personally with another top-five finish in the Press on FanDuel. Once again I am not doing anything special to find this success as I am just narrowing my player pool while using FC Projections. Moving on to tonight we do have small contests with the return of NBA as sites try to fill their massive NBA contests but that doesn’t mean there isn’t money to be won. One thing to take note of for tonight’s slate is that it does tip off an hour early than the past two nights with the first game taking place at 6 PM EST.
Guards to Target
Kahleah Cooper ($6,600 DK/$5,000 FD)- I am not sold on Cooper tonight as I believe her playing 29 minutes last time out was due to the blowout victory. With that being said if Cooper remains in the Sky starting lineup I am going to have exposure to her as it is hard to ignore the way she played the first two games of the season. Cooper has played at least 22 minutes in each of those two games and is averaging 19.5 points, six rebounds, 1.5 assists, and a steal, Cooper has produced at least 23 fantasy points in both of those games.
Jasmine Thomas ($7,800 DK/$4,800 FD)- In her first two games of the season, Thomas is averaging just 6.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 15.1 fantasy points. While those numbers are bad Thomas is a better player than she has shown and is playing 30 plus minutes a night. While this is likely to bite me in the ass I am going to have a ton of exposure to Thomas tonight on FanDuel as they have priced her way down due to her slow start to the season. DraftKings did not price Thomas down as she is still the fifth-most expensive guard on that site and while I don’t love her at that salary I am still going to have shares of her over there as well.
Ariel Atkins ($6,800 DK/$4,400 FD)- While I don’t mind Atkins’s salary on DraftKings tonight she is another player I am looking at more so on FanDuel as she is mispriced on that site. FanDuel most likely factored in Atkins’s first game of the season in which she only played 21 minutes due to a blowout victory in her salary when the game you should focus on when it comes to Atkins is the last game. In that game, we saw Atkins play 29 minutes and produce a 16/2/3 stat line on her way to 27.9 fantasy points. Those are the number of minutes we can expect to see from Atkins on a nightly basis and while 28 fantasy points is on the higher side of production for her we should see her produce in the 22 to 24 fantasy point range on a nightly basis.
Rachel Banham ($3,800 DK/$3,100 FD)- Nothing through the first two games of the season is going to tell you to roster Banham as she only played 15 minutes in the Lynx first game and 14 minutes in the Lynx second game but I need you to ignore those two games as Banham is set up for a lot of run tonight with the Lynx dealing with injuries. The Lynx lost Karima Christmas-Kelly for the season to an ACL tear and also might be without Lexie Brown who is in concussion protocol as of this writing. If both of those players are out Banham should start and will likely see minutes in the upper 20’s. If Brown plays I will not love the Banham play as much but I will still have exposure as she would still likely play minutes in the low 20’s with Christmas-Kelly out.
Forwards to Target
Sylvia Fowles ($10,500 DK/$7,100 FD)- There are several high priced forwards that I love tonight but Fowles really jumps out at me as the best of the bunch. Fowles has just been that good through the first two games of the season with averages of 16 points, 14.5 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. Fowles has at least 35 fantasy points in each of those two games. Fowles has not only been excellent to start the season but I love the match-up with the Sky. The Sky allowed 83.3 points and 35.4 rebounds per game a season ago which both ranked in the bottom five on the WNBA and this season they are allowing similar numbers at 82.0 points and 36 rebounds per game. Fowles also played really well against the Sky last season with averages of 17 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 36.8 fantasy points in their three meetings.
Azura Stevens ($8,900 DK/$4,800 FD)- Stevens is another player that I really love over at FanDuel due to her salary. DraftKings has Stevens prices as if Stefanie Dolson was out which is the case while FanDuel has her priced as if Dolson was playing. In the Sky’s last game with Dolson out Stevens played 31 minutes in a spot start and played really well with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal on her way to 44.6 fantasy points. Now, I don’t think we can expect 44 fantasy points from Stevens again tonight but we should see 30 plus minutes and close to 30 fantasy points and that would make her a downright steal on FanDuel.
Gabby Williams ($6,700 DK/$5,800 FD)- Williams is listed as a guard on FanDuel and I don’t like her as much over on that site due to that fact. On DraftKings however, where they have her listed as a forward I really like the value she offers you as she has played really well to start the season. Through the first two games of the season, Williams is averaging 12.5 points, six rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals, and 30.7 fantasy points.
