DraftKings Outlaw Tour: Southern Dunes Classic – Round 1 -DFS Core Plays & Cheat Sheet for the May 26, 2020 Slate
In this article, I’ll give you 3 core plays and a Cheat Sheet for your Round 1 showdown slate!
Former MLB pitcher Barry Enright held off the field last week at the TPC Champions in Scottsdale, to pick up the title, wrapping up an exciting week on the Outlaw Tour in a long playoff over Sam Triplett. This week the tour rolls on with the Southern Dunes Classic, played at the Southern Dunes Golf Club. This track is long, measuring over 7400 yards – so players will have to be long off the tee in order to navigate the course.
Let’s have a look at some of my favourite options for the first round, with a focus on some long ball hitters and players that can score on Par 5’s as some key stats to consider this week:
Nicolo Galletti – $10,300
Galletti is my favourite player on the board this week out of the upper echelon plays. He is the best player on the Outlaw Tour this season in Par 5 scoring for players who have played more than 10 rounds (average: 4.18) – and that will be a key test on such a long track. He has played in 4 tournaments this year, finishing 1st, 2nd, 3rd and another top 25 finish. He’s an elite play and I have no problem opting with him, even with some players who have PGA experience priced around him. I think he’s right in the hunt from Day 1 in this event.
Norman Xiong – $8,400
Admittedly, I was a sucker for a near min-priced Xiong when the former Oregon product turned pro with all the hype that surrounded the young phenom. He mashes the ball off the tee, and this course seems to fit his game well. He struggled in his PGA events and hasn’t run into much success in his tournaments on the Korn Ferry Tour – but I love how this course sets up for his game, and there’s no denying the talent that he brings to the table. At this price point, the upside is tremendous.
Andrew Funk – $8,300
Funk was a favourite of mine at least week’s event, and given his strong final two rounds, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see him listed here as a core play for the first round of the showdown slate this week. He finished in a tie for 5th last week and checked in with a T3 on the par 5’s last week, shooting -8 on them over the three rounds. He has the length to play and excel here, and I like the spot he’s in at an affordable price.
