XFL Week 5 DFS Primer – March 5, 2020

Welcome to the XFL DFS Fantasy Week 5 Primer (March 5, 2020)

Note: Since FanDuel doesn’t have any 4-game slates posted, I’ve gone ahead and used DraftKings Pricing.

Top Play: BJ Daniels ($7,200)

I know I said last week on the stream that Seattle was a team that would likely not get any rostered players from me the rest of the year but Seattle did what I thought they would never do and benched Brandon Silvers for BJ Daniels. In only a half of play against a very stout STL defense, Daniels was able to rush for 84 yards while posting 16.4 fantasy points. Now in a match-up that’s even better against Houston, Seattle will be behind and having to put the ball in BJ’s hands the entire game. At this price, which is almost 2,500 cheaper than Ta’Amu and 4,800 cheaper than Walker (the only other mobile XFL QB’s), Daniels can get us 20-24 points and allow us to pay up for the other skill players we know will get big workloads. It’s a bit risky but one I’m willing to try given the pricing of the other QB’s.

Running Back:

Top Play: Matt Jones ($7,300)

Remember how I said I thought the Battlehawks would be more run heavy? I like Jones this week if he’s good to go (if he can’t Christine Michael would be an elite play). With the XFL Pricing getting sharper and sharper by the week, the value of the elite RB will start to rise and that clearly is Matt Jones. Matt Jones fell just shy of the 100 yard bonus two weeks ago before Seattle sold out against the run and Ta’Amu picked them apart. I look for DC to play a bit more straight up than Seattle did giving Jones the opportunity to get that 100 yard bonus. Was a really close call between Matt Jones and Dunbar for this #1 spot (and if De’Veon Smith is out, the #1 option is clearly Jacques Patrick who would take over all the work in Tampa)

Wide Receiver:

Top Play: Kahlil Lewis ($8,900)

It only took teams four weeks but finally someone decided to double team Cam Phillips the entire game and make Walker beat them going elsewhere. While Houston was able to win the game still they were far less effective than they had been up til this point so I would expect Seattle to employ a similar scheme which makes Lewis the big winner. Lewis is the other big play threat Houston has and Seattle has been burned by the deep ball all year, so look for Lewis to not only get volume but get a couple home run targets that if they convert will make him a must have this week.
