Core plays and a GPP cheat sheet for the February 12, 2020 NBA DFS FanDuel slate
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel. We share this article for all main slates (3 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. We hope you enjoy!
With Giannis Antetokoumnpo out, MIL should be pretty popular to target at least 1-2 guys deep
We should see Ersan Ilyasova and Donte DiVincenzo get some additional minutes here, and Ilyasova is the guy you probably want more exposure to based on the numbers. His per 36 minute average is 46.66 FP in the split (full games without Giannis active) this year, with a ridiculous 130.7 offensive rating and 1.3 fantasy points per possession.
DiVincenzo is a very good shooter, and should still be good for 22-25 fantasy points (not bad for his salary). However, he hasn’t seen a usage benefit in the split and the plus/minus in the situation is also a little net negative.
The three others that you really want to have adequate exposure to are Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe and Brook Lopez. Their usage boosts are +7.5%, +6.4% and +5.8% respectively with Giannis off the floor, with Middleton leading the pack (33.4% usage) and Bledsoe trailing not too fair behind (30.9%). They both average over 54 FP/36 MIN in the split, and despite tougher match-ups are borderline must-starts (cash games at minimum). At Lopez’s mid-range price as well, he’s viable if you want a solid floor with some ceiling at a very affordable price tag.
A couple other WAS and DEN values should be popular today, too
Not very sexy names here, but I’m talking about Moritz Wagner and Torrey Craig. Craig should see additional time and touches again while Will Barton is out, and his price ($3,800) with a low-20s projection is viable for SG2 punts (prefer for cash games). Wagner at $4,000 against a poor defence (NYK) should pay off with a mid-20s projection given he’s averaging over 25 MPG in his last couple outings with Thomas Bryant on the bench and can affect the game nicely in a multitude of ways (points, rebounds, assists and some hustle stats, too).
If history is any indicator, there are 2 Brooklyn names that you’ll want to have on your short list this evening
Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert should be high on your list today, especially with how affordable LeVert is for GPP purposes. He’s now starting four straight for the Nets, playing 32+ minutes in 3 of those outings and holding one of the highest usage rates on the team in that time (26%+ in each). He’s eclipsed the 35 fantasy point mark in 3 of 4, including a 48.6 outburst on the road against the Raptors just 2 games ago. His ability to score and create off the dribble as one of their more dynamic players right now makes him a 6+ ROI candidate with a pretty realistic chance of achieving that. Dinwiddie’s going to continue to shine with Kyrie Irving out, but is more expensive. I still love him as a mid-range guard despite the tough match-up on paper. His minutes and involvement has proven to be a DFS asset in this situation 3 games in a row vs TOR with 43.4, 36.1 and 47.7 FP against them in his last 3.
I could keep going here as there are just so many others I love, but I’ll save the rest for the cheat sheet below…
