Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 12, 2020, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all main slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. We hope you enjoy!
So far this year, he’s fifth in the league in usage with a 33.5% mark, behind only Harden, Giannis, Luka and Trae – but the FPPG in 2019-20 wouldn’t necessarily suggest he’s been an elite DFS play. That said, with no George today, he should see nearly 40 minutes like we had out of him on Friday (38 minutes) with tremendous usage (37.6%) – where he finished with a 61.3 fantasy point mark thanks to a masterful 36-9-5-3-1 line. The Nuggets are a far thought defensive team, so I wouldn’t have the ceiling as quite that high. But a 50+ day is within reach for under $10,000.
Devin Booker is playing some of his best basketball right now and is a great core play
He’s on fire right now with 8 straight games of at least 41 fantasy points, which at this price means a 4.7 ROI average – not to mention upside for more given he’s eclipsed 48 points in 3 of his last 4, too. The Hornets are a very average team defensively, and as the focal point of the offense (20th in the NBA in usage with 28.9% on the year and number one on the Suns), his TS% of 62.7% is just a notch behind James Harden among those in the top 20 in usage – so the efficiency is there. Play him in cash games at minimum here, where salary shouldn’t be a huge issue today.
Spencer Dinwiddie bounced back last game and is in a great spot to repeat, but Kyrie’s return looms (and will reduce ownership)
Dinwiddie stumbled a little earlier in the week with just one game over the 28 FP mark, but bounced back significantly with 58.5 fantasy points against the Heat on Friday night in 35 minutes. We all know how great the usage statistics have been this year without Kyrie Irving, and when you remember he had 37.7 and 55.2 points against ATL earlier this year, you can’t help but get excited at $7,400. I’m a little timid with the news that Kyrie should return today, but he won’t see a full minutes allotment – so Dinwiddie still presents as a nice lower own% PG for GPPs (fade in cash games). I still like the match-up and history for him to succeed here, but you probably want to cap your exposure a bit as a result.
Glenn Robinson III continues to be underpriced for the minutes and rock solid production
For a guy with back to back 25+ fantasy point performances and 27+ minutes per game since November 11th, it’s hard to fade a value like this given how well he’s played of late. The usage has been surprisingly high lately (21.9% in his last 3 games) to help drive up the floor and ceiling alike. Look for 25+ fantasy points from him here in a very good spot at only $4,100.
