Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 11, 2020, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.

Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.

We’ll be sharing this article with you for all main slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. We hope you enjoy!

Core Plays

Some great plays on the Pelicans with all their injury issues

Not only is Jrue Holiday doubtful, but Derrick Favors has been ruled out, as has J.J. Redick and Kenrich Williams. This leaves them incredibly short-handed today, which is going to have a direct impact (in terms of elevating the prospects) on Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Jaxson Hayes.

Hayes has been ridiculous his last 2 games, playing 24 and 29 minutes off the bench for the Pels while delivering back to back 39+ FP outings. He should slide into the starting lineup here today, solidifying the minutes. However, BOS is a tough defensive draw, so the floor takes a bit of a hit. Nonetheless, I still think he’s a bargain at $4,100.

Brandon Ingram is set to dominate the ball for the Pels here, as he leads the team in usage for the split (30.6%) and averages nearly 50 FP per 36 minutes here as well. We currently have him projected for just 42.36 points on FC, which I think is understated given the situation. He could easily reach 36 minutes and 35%+ usage, even in a tough match-up.

Lastly is probably the safest pick of the litter, in Josh Hart. He’s almost the last man standing in the back court and has played 33 and 37 minutes in his last 2. His elite rebounding efficiency, and potential for 10+ FGA for the short-handed Pelicans here give him an elevated floor and ceiling. Expect 25-35 FP here.

A couple other plays I love here:

Kemba Walker vs NOP – with no Jrue Holiday on the floor defensively, and a great $7K flat salary, his team’s elite game total along with his personal low-30s minutes, 27-30% usage role (of late) makes him an exceptional option. Particularly in cash games.

Al Horford @ DAL – while the match-up is a little tough here by the numbers, so was last game against the Celtics and managed 42.6 points in 32 minutes with 20% usage in that match-up. Joel Embiid continues to be out, which is the split where Horford shines. Look for him to easily deliver on the salary implied point total here ($6,400).
