Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for January 11, 2020, NBA DFS slate on DraftKings.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for DraftKings.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all main slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Let’s get at it!
Some great plays on the Pelicans with all their injury issues tonight
Not only is Jrue Holiday doubtful, but Derrick Favors has been ruled out, as have J.J. Redick and Kenrich Williams. This leaves them incredibly short-handed today, which is going to have a direct impact (in terms of elevating the prospects) on Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Jaxson Hayes.
Hayes has been ridiculous his last 2 games, playing 24 and 29 minutes off the bench for the Pels while delivering back to back 38.5+ FP outings. He should slide into the starting lineup here today, solidifying the minutes. However, BOS is a tough defensive draw, so the floor takes a bit of a hit. Nonetheless, I still think he’s a bargain at $3,800 and is hard to fade at C.
Brandon Ingram is set to dominate the ball for the Pels here, as he leads the team in usage for the split (30.6%) and averages nearly 50 FP per 36 minutes here as well. We currently have him projected for 48.67 points on FC, which I think is fair but perhaps even a little understated given he’s had over 51 points in 3 straight. He could easily reach 36 minutes and 35%+ usage, even in a tough match-up and contribute everywhere to eclipse the 50 point mark. Plus, the $8,400 price tag is simply too low.
E’Twaun Moore and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are both in play as well given both are going to be a bigger part of the rotation today. NAW is only $3,100 and could see 20 minutes here, not taking much to deliver value there. Meanwhile, Moore as the veteran will likely be relied on for more stability on the defensive side as well. He could reach 25 minutes with 20% usage here for a 23-26 FP game.
Lastly is probably the safest pick of the litter, in Josh Hart. He’s almost the last man standing in the back court and has played 33 and 37 minutes in his last 2. His elite rebounding efficiency, and potential for 10+ FGA for the short-handed Pelicans here give him an elevated floor and ceiling. Expect 27-35 FP here.
One other play I really like to pop tonight:
Will Barton vs CLE – With PG/SF eligibility, and a cake-walk of a match-up at home against the lowly Cavs, he’s primed to deliver another high-end game (37+ points) as he’s done in 3 of his last 4. He’s playing nearly 40 minute a night most of these games and is one of the more well-rounded contributors in fantasy thanks to high energy on offense, strong rebounding (9+ in 3 of his last 4) and 5+ assists (in 4 of his last 5).
Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
