Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for the December 14, 2019, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all key slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Hope you enjoy!
Core Plays – Main Slate
- PG – Kendrick Nunn, MIA @ DAL, $5,100
- SG – Duncan Robinson, MIA @ DAL, $4,400
- SG – Tyler Herro, MIA @ DAL, $4,300
- SF – Derrick Jones Jr, MIA @ DAL, $4,000
This is a pretty key one to monitor ahead of tonight’s slate, as these are pretty significant injuries that have direct impact on a number of guys for Miami. With these 2 guys off the floor this year (full games), Bam Adebayo gets the highest usage boost (+2.2%) but DJJ has seen the highest benefit in terms of raw fantasy points overall (Adebayo ranks just behind him in that regard, too). So, Bam is a great play in his own right, but I want to help figure out the right way to dissect the values.
For me, Jones Jr has been tremendous his last couple games, with 60.2 FP in that span (63 MP). Even more encouraging is the 28 MP against a tough Lakers group in a tight game. His versatility and tough defensive draw today against the Mavs should keep him on the floor for 25+ minutes at a great price. Herro and Robinson are tougher to trust, as both of them being active will spread the minutes out between the two. But, Nunn is the guy that you probably want to have in your PG rotation thanks to elite minutes of late (36+ in 3 straight) and a usage rate settling into the 20s on a nightly basis. This is not an easy match-up, but neither was the Lakers last night and he still managed to score over 33 points.
Tonight it goes Bam > Jones Jr > Nunn for me (with Jimmy Butler obviously being a playable star in his own right).
PG – Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN @ TOR, $7,700
Caris LeVert and Kyrie Irving are both out again today for the Nets, and for some reason FanDuel keeps dropping Dinwiddie’s price (now at $7,700). He;’s scored 35+ FP in every single game since the middle of November, playing consistently over 33 minutes with a near 30% usage rate. Yes, the Raptors are a tough defensive draw, but the value here is too good to ignore for a guy with his floor time and offensive responsibility. Play him with confidence.
PF – Jaren Jackson Jr, MEM vs WAS, $7,300
A great match-up tonight for MEM/WAS should make Jackson popular (especially after scoring over 50 points against Milwaukee last night), and I would keep rostering him given how tremendous of a producer he’s been these days. Not only did he eclipse the 50 FP mark yesterday, but he’s been over 31 points in 6 straight now and often sees his usage creep into the middle-upper 30s (tremendous for a young big). He’s been lighting it up from deep (9/15 last night) and has at least 1 block as well in 9 straight games. As long as he’s the focal point of the offence (with or without Ja Morant active), he’s a premium play in the middle tier.
SF – Troy Brown, WAS @ MEM, $4,700
The injury to Jordan McRae (and Isaiah Thomas to a certain extent) has really opened up time and opportunity for Brown to be one of the key players off the bench for the Wizards. He’s scored at least 19.4 fantasy points in 7 straight games now and as high as 40 fantasy points in that time (2 games ago against the Clippers in 35 minutes). He should see high-20s minutes here in a game that is set to feature a tremendous pace and amount of points on both sides, and his defensive prowess in the steals department (2+ in 4 of his last 5) keeps the floor/ceiling combo very much intact (even with a slight price jump of late).
