Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for the December 7, 2019, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all key slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Hope you enjoy!
Core Plays – Main Slate
PF – Al Horford, PHI vs CLE, $7,600
In 4 games with Joel Embiid off the floor this year, Horford’s seen a tremendous boost in usage with a +9% (full points) – checking in at a team-high 28.4% in this category. His per 36 minute average of 43.95 FP is absolutely tremendous when you stack things up given that he’s crazy cheap, and CLE is the slate’s softest defense on the whole. He will be very popular tonight for the Sixers, but for good reason as the results / baseline metrics are fantastic. Play him with confidence here.
SG – Donovan Mitchell, UTA vs MEM, $8,300
Devin Booker is an intriguing SG play on the slate given the high pace and total we’re going to see from the PHX/HOU game, but I would recommend looking at Mitchell thanks to a great track record against MEM so far this year (54.3 and 38.5 points in 2 games) as well as a mid-30s minutes / 30%+ usage rate average in that time. For the price and given this is the first time in a week that the Jazz have a favourable match-up (after facing TOR, PHI and LAL), we get a little extra value to work with – and in a premium DvP spot with MEM ranking well below average vs SGs. Play him with confidence tonight, with or without Booker as a great pivot down from Harden.
C – Rudy Gobert, UTA vs MEM, $7,700
The second of premium targets that I’m looking for exposure to on the slate is Gobert, whose price is absolutely ridiculous given his history in the match-up (56.9, 39.1 FP in 2 games this year) and the 53+ FPPG average that MEM is giving up to Cs on the year. He should easily be able to deliver on his potential here against a soft-rebounding Memphis front court by (15.0 REB/G against MEM this year) and threaten for 20 PTS with 2+ BLK as well. For the dollar – while we get the benefit of him coming off a down (predictably) against the Lakers – he’s an elite C target tonight.
PF – Frank Kaminsky, PHX @ HOU, $5,400
This is a premium game for exposure thanks to a 239.5 game total, but finding the right access points outside of the big 2 (James Harden, Russell Westbrook) is key. So, let’s see if we can find some nice exposure from a value perspective.
With Aron Baynes out of the lineup these last few games, Frank the Tank has stepped into the starting lineup for the Suns and has really delivered with 3 straight games of at least 30 fantasy points. Tonight’s tilt with the Rockets should be no different, especially since HOU ranks as the softest team on the slate in terms of fantasy points against opposing PFs (48.6 vs a 44.2 NBA average). We should see Kaminsky with 28-32 minutes here and a 20%+ usage rate – making him a tremendous lower-middle range play at just $5,400.
