Welcome to the FC Insights Core Plays and Cheat Sheet Article for DraftKings.
In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays for DraftKings for each night of the 2019-2020 NBA DFS season.
Joel Embiid is getting the night off for the 76ers and that makes Simmons one of my favorite players on this small slate. Since the start of last season with Embiid off the court, Simmons has seen an increase in usage to 22.8% and is averaging 1.26 fantasy points per minute. If we just look at the 17 games that Embiid has missed we will see that Simmons is averaging more points per game, more rebounds per game, more steals per game, more blocks per game, and more fantasy points per game by almost five points. Simmons is not only going to get the boost with Embiid out but the Cavs are an excellent match-up for him as this season they are allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to point guards.
Josh Richardson is still out for the 76ers tonight and that makes Thybulle a player worth rostering at his salary. In his past two games, Thybulle has played at least 26 minutes and has produced at least 20 fantasy points in each of those games. Tonight we should see similar minutes from Thybulle and I would actually be surprised if we didn’t see similar production due to the match-up with the Cavs. Thybulle’s biggest strength is his ability to rack up defensive stats and this season the Cavs are allowing the ninth-most steals per game and second-most blocks per game.
The Suns really want to see what they got in their first-round pick. Johnson has played at least 25 minutes in three of his past five games and played well in those games. In those three games, Johnson is averaging 15.67 points, 3.67 rebounds, and 1.67 blocks+steals. Johnson has at least 18 fantasy points in each of those games and is averaging 26.42 fantasy points in those games. With a solid match-up against the Rockets, I like Johnson to continue his solid play.
Gobert started the season off slowly but has really picked it up as of late for the Jazz. In his past 11 games, Gobert is averaging 16.5 points, 13.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, and 42.84 fantasy points. Two of the games during this time frame were against tonight’s opponent the Grizzlies and in those games, Gobert produced at least 39 fantasy points and averaged 47.5 fantasy points. There is no reason to believe that Gobert doesn’t have similar production tonight and he is underpriced at just $7,300 in salary.
Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
