Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for the December 6, 2019, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all key slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Hope you enjoy!
Core Plays – Main Slate
PF – Anthony Davis, LAL @ POR, $10,700
The Lakers are set to be a popular group to target tonight, especially when we look at how both he and LeBron James are reasonably priced. If you’re tempted to make sure you have exposure to this game and can spend up for a guy like Davis, this is a good spot to do so. His track record against the Blazers is pretty remarkable, reaching the 59+ FP plateau in 2 of his last 3 games against them and 4 of 6 – and when you look at his 30.2% usage rate trend this year you can’t help but feel encouraged that this will be a profitable 50+ spot in a plus-plus DvP situation (where POR ranks #2 on the slate in terms of most exploitable at the PF position). LeBron is a good play himself, but the SF position is far deeper.
SG – Jimmy Butler, MIA vs WAS, $9,100
Butler should be crazy popular tonight, and our 35.6% ownership projection tells much of that story. However, we shouldn’t be surprised by this when you look at how WAS lines of from a DvP perspective against the SG position – and just overall given they are the weakest defensive group in the NBA over the last month (14 GP). With 35-39 MPG as his general average and a usage rate that has peaked all the way into the low-30s of late, get him active and don’t look back.
PG – Spencer Dinwiddie, BKN @ CHA, $8,500
Kyrie Irving is out again. Great DvP situation to exploit. A price point that has dropped -$200 for some reason since he last played, where he handled one of the highest usage responsibilities (36%). He dropped 40.8 FP when he faced the Hornets last time out (mid-November), and this is an easy one to project for a similar output here as well. His time in the spotlight will soon come to an end when Irving returns, but enjoy the ride for now while you can.
SG – Evan Fournier ORL @ CLE, $7,000
Having a piece or two of the Magic/Cavs game is important tonight, especially when it comes to the Orlando side of the coin where they face a CLE club that ranks just behind WAS for the softest defenses in the league. Fournier has been one heck of a consistent contributor for the Magic over the last little while, and is 39th in the league in usage (25.1%) while playing heavy minutes and handling a nice chunk of both PTS% and AST% – especially while Nikola Vucevic is out of the picture. He’s in a plus spot to deliver a 35+ point night here.
