Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for the December 2, 2019, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all key slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Hope you enjoy!
Core Plays – Main Slate
PG – Tyus Jones, MEM vs IND, $4,000
This is an easy and chalky way to look with Ja Morant out tonight, but someone you need to have in your cash game and GPP rotation. He’s been a very solid contributor in assists when getting the minutes on the floor, and is a very good defender in his own right that helps him accrue steals/rebounds as well. The last time he started for Morant he scored 31.3 FP in 25 minutes (19% usage) against the Wolves, and had 28.4 points the night he started before that. Coming off the bench and being behind Morant makes him invisible for DFS, but this is a situation you’ll want exposure to given the 7-8+ ROI potential.
PF – Jabari Parker, ATL vs GSW, $7,000
The Warriors have tightened up a little defensively over the last couple weeks, but Draymond Green is expected to sit out today which should allow Parker to flourish for the Hawks. While John Collins has been out of the lineup, Parker has really put together some big games with 36.9, 39.4 and 61.3 FP in 3 of his last 5 games. The last two duds were both against good competition (IND) and a blowout (HOU) – so a mid-30s minutes/mid-20s usage kind of night is in the cards for the veteran PF here. Look for this to be a great game for exposure, and for Parker to be one of the best access points to the Hawks in particular. Trae Young looms large as well, but is quite pricey.
SG – Devonte’ Graham, CHA vs PHX, $7,400
The second year player for the Hornets continues his breakout season, and is a hard guy to fade tonight for only $7,400. The team total of over 110 points is one of the best on the slate, playing in a game that should feature a top 2-3 overall pace as well. Graham has at least 33 fantasy points in 3 straight games and has shown the upside for 40+ twice in his last 6, too. For a mid-30s minutes expectation and a mid-20s usage projection in a plus match-up, I’m expecting him to do big things against the Suns today.
The Hawks are the slate’s softest defense over the last couple weeks, averaging 246.6 fantasy points per game to the opposition – ranking well below the league norms against PGs (53.1) and PF (55.2) in particular. Not only is Jabari Parker a great play in his own right, but I’m loving Bowman and Paschall in their respective spots, too.
Draymond Green is not expected to play tonight, and the split metrics suggest that Paschall should continue to thrive in this situation. He has a 23.9% usage rate with Russell, Green, Thompson and Curry off the floor this year (team high in the split) and averages over 30 FP per 36 minutes of action as well. He should come close to 30 minutes tonight and is a 25 point floor (although that’s probably lower than we’ll see it when push comes to shove).
Bowman may not have the highest usage on the team, but ranks just behind Paschall for the team lead in offensive rating in the split (105.8), averages a fantasy point per possession, and has a very attractive 20.6% assist share (28 FP per 36 minutes).
Both of these 2 guys are arguably the best access points to the Warriors tonight, and offer a great combination of floor/ceiling as well.
Dollar for dollar, they are 2 of the better lower-middle range values on the board tonight, but are going to be popular. Expect Glenn Robinson, Alec Burks and even Jordan Poole to have solid ownership, too.
