Sharing core plays and a cheat sheet for the December 1, 2019, NBA DFS slate on FanDuel.
Welcome to our NBA Core Plays & Cheat Sheet column for FanDuel.
We’ll be sharing this article with you for all key slates (2 games+) over the course of the 2019-2020 NBA season. Hope you enjoy!
Core Plays – Main Slate
PG – Fred VanVleet, TOR vs UTA, $8,200
With Kyle Lowry likely sitting out at least one more game, and a shift for Freddy V back to the PG position on FanDuel, he’s a hard guy to pass up this evening on a small main slate. We have him projected for 36 minutes tonight – a very fair number given the high-30s he’s been seeing with Lowry off the floor – and has been absolutely dominant of late. We had him here for the last game he played and went off for over 50 fantasy points thanks to an elite 7 steals in total, and although the match-up is tougher this evening – he’s at home and facing a declining Mike Conley in a game that TOR should win. For the price at a thinner position today, he’s an elite target.
SG – Evan Fournier, ORL vs GSW, $6,300
Fournier is a very streaky player, but when the going is good, he’s as solid of a play as it gets in DFS. He’s now scored at least 33 fantasy points in 6 of his last 7 games for the the Magic, and many of those outings saw him with a very healthy 30%+ usage rate / 34+ MPG combo. With an attractive match-up against the Warriors this evening, he’s a tremendous mid-range option that will certainly be accretive in a positive light regardless of contest.
C – Mo Bamba, ORL vs GSW, $4,700
The C position on FanDuel is one that offers quite a few different options this evening, as you can pay up for a Rudy Gobert or Montreal Harrell if you’d like – go into the middle tier with Thomas Bryant – or pivot down for some value and lock in a guy like Bamba. Well, with Nikola Vucevic sidelined once again, I’m happy to dig for some upside here with the defense-first ORL big. He’s scored 22+ FP in each of his last 4 games for the home favourites, with 2+ blocks in 5 straight and playing around 20 minutes a night off the bench. That trend should continue here playing against an inexperienced banged-up Warriors club who doesn’t rebound terribly well either, so a 25+ night is certainly within reach at a good price. I’m not going all-in on Bamba in multi-entry GPPs, but I do like him for a nice chunk of exposure.
SG – Jordan McRae, WAS @ LAC, $4,200
Like the C position today, SG offers some variety as well. Bradley Beal, Lou Williams and Donovan Mitchell should dominate the majority of ownership here, but in addition to Fournier who we love and is set to be popular as well, you can go a number of different routes for value under $5,500. Norman Powell is intriguing for some energy off the bench for Toronto once again (helium watch, though) – or we can go with a guy that’s nearly $1,500 cheaper and playing very well for the Wizards in a game that you’ll certainly want exposure given the high pace and game total. He’s only $700 above site minimum here, and has scored at least 22 FP in 4 of his last 5 games (6.5+ ROI in each of those) while playing a very consistent 22-24 MPG off the bench with a usage rate that typically sites into the 20s. They’ll need his energy to have a shot in this one against a talented Clippers club, and he should net out as one of the better values on the slate once the dust settles. Garbage time could help his cause, too, for some increased usage.
