FC Insights Core Plays and Cheat Sheet for DraftKings on December 1, 2019.
In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays for DraftKings for each night of the 2019-2020 NBA DFS season.
PG/SG – Fred VanVleet, TOR vs UTA, $7,400
With Kyle Lowry likely sitting out at least one more game, he’s a hard guy to pass up this evening on a small main slate. Especially with a great price point on DK of only $7,400 which is almost a full $1,000 cheaper than we get him on FanDuel.
We have him projected for 36 minutes tonight – a very fair number given the high-30s he’s been seeing with Lowry off the floor – and has been absolutely dominant of late. We had him here for the last game he played and went off for nearly 50 fantasy points thanks to an elite 7 steals in total, and although the match-up is tougher this evening – he’s at home and facing a declining Mike Conley in a game that TOR should win. For the price at a thinner position today, he’s an elite target. Note that I love Pascal Siakam on DK as well today given the PF/C eligibility and nice price point against a UTA club that’s been very soft to PFs in their last couple weeks in particular. He’s a bonus call-out as a top play tonight, too.
SG/SF – DeMar DeRozan, SAS @ DET, $7,300
The first of two Spurs that I’m going to call out on today, I’m really liking the way that double-D has been contributing of late. He hasn’t delivered a fantasy ROI under 4.9 times price-value in his last 7 games, generally clocking in for 38 fantasy points at a minimum and as high as 53.5 in that span while logging mid-30s minutes and high-20s usage. His salary is really nice tonight at just $7,300 and after a little lineup shakeup last time out by shifting Rudy Gay to a starting spot (see below for more on him) where the Spurs were able to grab a tough win, I think we can pretty safely pencil in DeRozan for another 35 minute, 25%+ usage, 38+ FP night at a very affordable salary. Note that Fournier is a great play in his own right (better FD value), but is a fair pivot if you want to spend down a little.
SF/PF – Rudy Gay, SAS @ DET, $4,900
Despite just 16 DKP in his last game and only one of his last four going for a fantasy-viable ROI, things are looking up for him tonight. The minutes he played last time out (31) were a season high in a starting role, and even though his usage takes a hit when the Spurs have him with the first unit, the fact that he shot just 2 of 9 from the floor against a tough Clippers defense while getting a season-high in minutes is encouraging for a breakout game today. Let’s not forget that the absence of Aldridge is going to be very advantageous for both Gay and DeRozan, as some additional touches are certainly going to funnel their direction.
For just $4,900, we have him projected for nearly 32 minutes and over 33 DKP. Perhaps a bit aggressive, but while the minutes are trending up and the match-up is a little softer than it was a couple nights ago, he’s a good target for value in GPPs.
PG/SG – Dennis Schroder, OKC @ NOP, $5,700
We have the second part of a home and home with the Pelicans and Thunder here, and boy did Schroder go off last time these 2 teams faced off. Not only was he just $100 more expensive last game, but playing 32 minutes with a near 40% usage rate off the bench are fantastic leading indicators – especially when the result was a 38 DKP night on 11 of 24 shooting (bad percentages and efficiency, but you have to love the volume). If history is any indication of what we can expect role-wise from him here, don’t be surprised for another 35+ FP night given his high-energy, high-volume spark role off the bench as the sixth man for the Thunder here in what should be the key game to have exposure to for the DK main slate (228.5 total; -2 spread; +12.5 points higher than the next closest game).
Please note that we can only list a player at one position on the cheat sheets and unless otherwise noted I like the player at both of their eligible positions.
