RSM Classic – The Primer – PGA DFS Analysis

Featuring in-depth analysis of The RSM Classic, 2019. Daily fantasy golf analysis for this week’s DFS slate to help you build winning cash game and tournament lineups on DraftKings.

Welcome to The Primer column for The RSM Classic! We are here to help you build your DFS lineups for FanDuel, DraftKings or whatever other sites you choose to play on (this article does have a DraftKings bias though).

The Best of the Best

  • Matt Kuchar

Kuchar had a disappointing showing last week, and while he didn’t complete cripple your line-ups, you were hoping for more than a T14 finish from the highest priced golfer in last week’s event.  He really valuted up the leaderboard with a -9 on Sunday, something that I expect him to carry over into this week’s event.  He’ll be a popular choice this weekend, but I think it’s warranted.  He is one of my favourite plays for this week’s event in a course that fits his game very, very well.

  • Billy Horschel

Horschel put together a solid event last week with a T8 finish, and in a weak-field event this week, he checks in as the second highest priced golfer.  As was the case last week, I like to roster Horschel in less experienced field events, and this one fits the bill.  He’s a great ball striker who scores very well on Par 4’s and can shape the ball to navigate the tree-lined fairways that we’ll see this weekend with plenty of trouble sprinkled throughout.  He’s my favourite play on the board.

The Next Tier

  • Zach Johnson

Johnson is priced up this week, sitting at $9k – which is a result of the younger field teeing it up this weekend.  Johnson’s game fits the course well, with his ability to hit fairways and score on Par 4’s.  He is coming off a strong showing in last week’s event, and I like his ownership levels to be kept in check given the fact that he is one of the more expensive golfers in this week’s event.

  • Denny McCarthy

McCarthy had a disappointing tournament last weekend, and he checks in this week in a similar price range.  He had 4 straight top 20 finishes before last week’s event, and I like his chances to bounce back and be in contention this weekend.  His track record at this event is nothing to write home about, but he is playing great golf as of late – and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him hang around and be in contention this weekend.

Don’t Overlook

  • Joel Dahmen

Dahmen is coming off a T6 finish last week and while I expect him to be one of the more popular low-priced options, I think he’s in a great spot this week.  He comes into the event playing great golf, and I like his chances of carrying over his play from last week on a course that sets up to favour the same types of golfers that we saw at last week’s event.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the top 20 yet again this weekend, and love the price point to roster him.

It should be a fun week of PGA action – and here’s to hoping it’s a good one for you!  If you have any questions at all, you can find me on Twitter @bradsgotmoxy.
