Sharing our core plays and cheat sheet for the Week 7 2019 NFL DFS slate on FanDuel.
In this column, we’ll share 4 core plays for FanDuel on a weekly basis, as well as our cheat sheet for the week’s main slate.
As with most weeks on FanDuel, I find that you should have no problem building a great lineup for the week 7 slate – particularly for cash games or single-entry contets.
QB – Kyler Murray, ARI @ NYG, $7,700
I’m anticipating Murray and the Cardinals to be popular this week in both cash games and tournaments, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to shy away from exposure.
This game features a top 3 total and +3 spread for the visiting Cardinals club, putting their team total at 23 points. However, when you look at how ARI is doing the majority of their damage – Murray seems to be right at the heart of a lot of the positive progress and point production.
He’s been very impressive so far this year from a DFS perspective, scoring at least 16 FDP in all 6 starts and seemingly getting better just about every week.
The passing volume has gone down a little but lately, but the completion percentage has been nice and healthy (68%+ in 2 of his last 3) while only having 1 INT in his last 3 games and scrambling for rushing yards with 21 carries in his last 2.
That’s the kind of well-rounded production that I love seeing from a fantasy QB, considering the pace at which ARI likes to play. If he’s not throwing it 40+ times a game, he’s seemingly rushing a ton and helping drive both the fantasy floor and ceiling nice and high.
The Giants are the 6th worst defensive unit in the league per PFF on the year, with a poor pass rush and awful pass coverage metric (worst in the league), so don’t be surprised to see him finish as a top 3-5 QB option when all is said and done.
RB – Leonard Fournette, JAC @ CIN, $7,900
Another guy that should be popular this week, but for very good reason.
Fournette is not only facing a very poor CIN defense (5th worst in the league in rush defense so far in 2019), but is dominating his team’s rushing market share (100% of rushing TDs, 59% of rushing yards) as well as playing a 3 down back role (75% of snaps).
He’s had 20+ attempts in 3 straight games, and is showcasing his versatility with 6+ targets through the air in all but one of his first 6 games in 2019 (20+ receiving yards in each of those 6).
This is a great situation for a high-volume part of the Jacksonville offense, in a plus match-up, at a price point that is still very reasonable given that Saquon Barkley and Alvin Kamara are either going to be off the main slate or at the very least hindered by injury.
He’s a stud RB1 this week by the numbers and should be started with confidence in all cash games at minimum.
WR – Larry Fitzgerald, ARI @ NYG, $5,600
Not an exciting WR1 kind of play like a Julio Jones this week – but a high-floor correlation play with Kyler Murray that is very cash game friendly.
He can be a low-end WR2 or high-floor WR3, holding a 25% share of ARI passing targets and a fantastic 41% of his team’s receiving TDs – even though he only has 2 so far on the season (ranking 4th in the league for receivers on this slate behind Terry McLaurin, Allen Lazard and Cooper Kupp).
His 12.0 FPPG this year for a $5,600 price point gives him a 2.1 ROI metric – one of the best at the position on the main slate. In a game where exposure is wise and high market share plays are a strong path to cash game profitability, the 8-12 FP outlook for Fitzgerald as a baseline is certainly worth having active at this price.
TE – Austin Hooper, ATL vs LAR, $6,600
I could go with George Kittle back in this spot for week 7, but I’d rather pocket the $500 in savings and go with a very hot hand in the Atlanta offense that is seeing a ton of volume right now.
The LAR @ ATL game total of 54.5 points is the only one over the 50 point mark and 5+ higher than the next closest game (BAL @ SEA which is at 49.5 right now), showing the value of exposure to this game.
Hooper has 11, 9 and 8 targets from Matt Ryan in his last 3 games, going over the 117 receiving yard mark twice in that time and scoring double-digit fantasy points in 4 straight games.
Matt Ryan has really been airing the ball out lately for the Falcons, who can’t seem to stop anyone from scoring on them at the moment, with 53, 46 and 36 passing attempts in his last 3 games and 7 PATD in his last 2. Hooper still trails Julio and Calvin Ridley on the depth chart for roles in the passing attack, but often challenges Ridley for the #2 slot behind Julio. And with the frequency of the Falcons relying on the air game – particularly in a match-up that they’ll likely be trailing at times against the Rams – the game script flows nicely in favor of Hooper to have 5+ receptions, 70+ yards and a good shot at scoring.
For a little bit less than Kittle and a great trend pointing positively in his direction, Hooper should be popular but a very solid play on the slate.
