Welcome to the FC Insights Defensive Targets Article. In this post, we will be breaking down our top options and plays at the DST position for each DFS week of the 2019-2020 NFL DFS season.
In this article, I am going to give you the top three defenses in my personal model which uses a number of factors like Vegas total, match-up, salary, etc. Please note that just because a player is not in this article doesn’t mean that I don’t like them or that they are not in my player pool.
Last Weeks Results
Based off of DraftKings scoring
- Eagles (1.00 fantasy points, 0.3x value, DST18)
- Ravens (13.00 fantasy points, 3.4x value, DST5)
- Lions (7.00 fantasy points, 2.4x value, DST9)
Patriots ($4,900 FD, $3,700 DK)
The Pats defense is very underrated. Last season they allowed the seventh-fewest points per game and were tied for the fifth-most takeaways. After week one their defense might be even better this season. Against a very good Steelers offense, the Patriots allowed just three points, 308 yards and held them to a 25.0% conversion rate on third-down. The Patriots scored ten fantasy points in that game. This week I am expecting an even better performance as they take on a bad Dolphins team. The Dolphins have the worst roster in the NFL and last week pick up just 200 total yards while allowing three sacks and three takeaways.
Ravens ($5,000 FD, $3,800 DK)
The Ravens defense picked up right where they left off last season in a dominant performance against the Dolphins in week one. In that game, the Dolphins scored just ten points, picked up just 200 yards, were sacked three times and turned the ball over three times. While this week’s match-up is a tougher match-up for the Ravens against the Cardinals it is still a great match-up. The Cardinals have a bad offensive line and allowed five sacks in week one. The Cardinals will also for those of you who live under a rock be starting a rookie quarterback. While Kyler Murray and the Cardinals only turned the ball over once in week one those numbers are going to rise especially if Murray is under pressure all the time like he should be once again this week.
Bears ($4,500 FD, $3,900 DK)
The Bears defense is one of the most talented in the NFL and showed how good they were in week one against the Packers. In that game, the Bears allowed just ten points and racked up five sacks. This week we should expect more of the same from the Bears defense as they take on a bad Broncos offense that allowed three sacks to a Raiders defense that had a total of 13 sacks just a season ago.
