FanDuel Cheat Sheet and Core Plays for NFL DFS 2019 2020

Week 2 NFL DFS Core Plays & Cheat Sheet for FanDuel

Sharing our core plays and cheat sheet for the Week 2 2019 NFL DFS slate on FanDuel.

In this column, we’ll share 4 core plays for FanDuel on a weekly basis, as well as our cheat sheet for the week’s main slate.

Let’s dive right in to the goods!

QB – Patrick Mahomes, KC @ OAK, $9,000

This game is projected to be a barn-burner, sitting with a hefty 53.5 point total at the moment. Some of the other attractive (or chalky) QB options are in riskier spots given heavy double-digit spreads, so it’s possible we’ll see the likes of a Tom Brady or Lamar Jackson not getting their full complement of throws in (game flow and blowout risk).

Mahomes on the other hand, is on the road and just over a one score favorite (-7.5 points right now). The Raiders looked (surprisingly) competent in their week 1 win over the Broncos, and appear to be able to move the ball both in the air and on the ground. So, there’s a good chance they’ll be able to keep pace with the Chiefs who are certainly going to put up points.

Given where both teams rank thus far in DAVE (via Football Outsiders), at 26th and 27th for OAK and KC respectfully, it’s safe to say we’ll see plenty of action through the air and lots of scoring, too. Mahomes makes for a great high floor pick, on a slate where you simply don’t need to spend down too far at QB given the wealthy of high-value talent available at other positions.

RB – Matt Breida, SF @ CIN, $5,600

I’m intrigued with Breida as a plug and play RB2 here for cash games, given the sub-$6K value and lack of strength in the CIN defensive front.

The injury to Tevin Coleman in week 1 is going to open up some extra touches for Breida, and we should see him net out in the 17-20 touch territory when all is said and done.

Now, Raheem Mostert was involved in week 1 with 10 touches despite Coleman also having a role in the first part of the game, so I expect more of a 60-40 or 65-35 split between Breida and Mostert here.

He feels like the better cash game than GPP option given SF will keep them both involved and potentially even split the goal line work – but for a dollars to touches option here, he’s hard to pass up in a game that should be tightly contested.

WR – Tyrell Williams, OAK vs KC, $5,900

One of my favorite things to do in NFL DFS is to stack at least one opposing team wideout with the quarterback you choose to lock in. So, with Patrick Mahomes being my guy there this week, Williams makes for an optimal correlation play in that regard.

With Antonio Brown out of the picture, Williams garnered 7 targets (second to Darren Waller who had a team-high 8), leading the WR pack and showing that he’s clearly going to be the go-to wideout in that offense.

With the Chiefs’ secondary not being their strongest suit, look for him to make good on his $5,900 price tag with plenty of opportunities to accrue fantasy points in this high-scoring game.

TE – Travis Kelce, KC @ OAK, $8,000

The loss of Tyreek Hill is set to benefit Kelce further, in addition to the likes of Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman (to a certain extent).

After Watkins’ insane outburst in week 1, I’m sure the defense is going to pay much more attention to preventing any big plays. That should force Mahomes to feed his most reliable target in Kelce, all the more.

Kelce led all WR and TE in red zone targets in week 1 with 4, and turned in a decent 3 receptions for 88 yards (8 targets).

This is a premium spot for Kelce against an Oakland defense that was 6th worst in FPPG to opposing TEs last season (11.7 FDP/G) – but the ceiling is obviously far higher for a guy in a great game for exposure with an elite talent at QB, too.
