Yankees vs. Aaron Sanchez (Projected total: 6.5)
The Yankees are going to be by far the most popular stack on this small Monday slate and I don’t see how you don’t eat the chalk when it comes to them tonight as they take on a bad left-handed pitcher in Aaron Sanchez. Sanchez has allowed at least four runs in each of his four starts this month. In those starts, he has a FIP of 8.33, an HR/9 rate of 2.89, a WHIP of 2.14 and has walked more batters than he has struck out. Hitters are slashing .346/.421/.630 with a .428 wOBA during this period. The Yankees who are now fully healthy should destroy Sanchez and I would be shocked if they didn’t threaten double-digit runs in this one.
Yesterday’s Results: Braves 4 runs, 7 hits, 2 walks, 3 home runs
White Sox vs. Eduardo Rodriguez (Projected total: 4.0)
I don’t love the White Sox tonight but on this small slate, they are the only cheap stack I am willing to roster for a couple of reasons. The first is the White Sox are not horrible against left-handed pitching as they rank 14th in team wRC+ against them this season. The second reason is their match-up with Eduardo Rodriguez. E-Rod is a boom or bust match-up as he has elite stuff but is one of the most inconsistent pitchers in baseball. When Rodriguez is on his stuff he is really good but when he is off he is bad as he has shown. Rodriguez has eight of his 15 starts with at least four runs allowed and has allowed nine home runs in his past six starts.
Yesterday’s Results: Indians 8 runs, 10 hits, 2 walks, 1 home run
