Twins vs. Mike Leake (Projected total: 5.5)
The Twins have been my favorite team to stack for the past month as they have been smoking hot. Over the past 30 days, the Twins lead the majors in home runs, runs scored, ISO and wOBA. The Twins are not only smoking hot but they have been the best team in the majors against right-handed pitching ranking first in team OPS, team ISO by a wide margin and team wOBA. Tonight we shouldn’t see the Twins slow down as they are in an elite match-up against Mike Leake. Leake has had two strong starts in a row but has struggled this season especially on the road. In his road starts, Leake has a FIP of 5.05, a WHIP of 1.36 and an HR/9 rate of 3.00. HItters are slashing .278/.326/.592 with a .378 wOBA and a 42.6% hard-hit rate.
Yesterday’s Results: Rays 6 runs, 8 hits, 3 walks, 3 home runs
Astros vs. Freddy Peralta (Projected total: 4.6)
The Astros with all the injuries they are dealing with the Astros have not been great hitting the ball. Over the past two weeks, the Astros rank 18th in team ISO, 23rd in team OPS, 23rd in team wOBA and 19th in runs scored. Those injuries plus the cold streak has depressed the salary on the Stros as they only have two expensive hitters right now in Alex Bregman and Michael Brantley. Tonight I like the Astros to turn things around as they take on Freddy Peralta. Peralta is coming off a huge start against the Marlins but has not been good this season with an ERA of 5.11, an HR/9 rate of 1.64 and a WHIP of 1.45. Peralta struggles the most the first time through the order as hitters are slashing .339/.403/.589 with a .417 wOBA in those situations.
Yesterday’s Results: Nationals 12 runs, 16 hits, 5 walks, 2 home runs
Rays vs. Mike Fiers (Projected total: 4.8)
The Rays were chalk yesterday and while they had a nice game they were not nearly as good as people were hoping for. That should keep their ownership levels down tonight especially with a larger slate and I am going to be taking advantage as nothing has really changed. The Rays are still one of the best hitting teams against right-handed pitching and one of the hottest teams in the majors. They are also in an elite match-up once again this time against Mike Fiers. Fiers even with a no-hitter on his resume this season has a FIP of 5.20 and an HR/9 rate of 1.67 in his 14 starts.
Yesterday’s Results: N/A
