The Daily Three Pack – FanDuel MLB DFS Picks- May 23, 2019

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FanDuel that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

In this article, I am going to give you three core plays that I am using in cash games for the afternoon slate of games. This core will include my favorite pitcher, my favorite hitter, and my top value hitter. For my value hitter, the hitter must be under $3,000 or under in salary to be considered.

Pitcher to Target

Stephen Strasburg – $11,000

I thought about going with a value play on the hill this afternoon – but in the end, opted to spend up for Strasburg, facing the Mets – who have a .307 wOBA to go along with a 23.8% whiff rate against RHP.  Strasburg has been superb so far this season for the Nats, punching out 11.35/9 – while posting a SIERA of 2.95 and a xFIP of 2.62.  I like his chances to keep his strong 2019 going this afternoon against a weak Mets line-up.

Hitter to Target

SS Gleyber Torres – $3800

Torres has worn out Orioles pitching so far on the season – something that has been well documented in baseball circles over the past week.  He has 4 HR in the 3 games this series, checks in at a price point that doesn’t break the bank, and faces home-prone Dylan Bundy this afternoon.  This is a case of fade at your own risk (or as much as you can be in that scenario in a sport with as much variance as baseball) – and he is a rock solid hitter to start line-up builds this afternoon.

Edit: 1B Luke Voit, given Torres is out of the line-up.

Value Hitter to Target

3B-Vladimir Guerrero Jr.-$3,000

Another day, another Vladdy choice in the value column.  He checks in at a great price point against a hittable arm.  I’m hoping that by the next slate, he won’t be eligible for a value play.  He remains far too cheap, and I have no problem continuing to play the free square.
