The Daily Three Pack – FantasyDraft MLB DFS Picks- May 17, 2019

Welcome to the Daily Three Pack where we share three core players on FantasyDraft that you are going to want to target for MLB DFS contests on Friday, May 17, 2019.

In this article, I am going to give you three core plays that I am using in cash games for the main slate of games. This core will include a player at each of the three positions on FantasyDraft pitcher, infielder, and outfielder.

Pitcher to Target

Jefry Rodriguez-$13,800-CLE

If you want to afford one of the aces on this slate, in particular, Jacob deGrom as he is by far your top ace on the slate spending down for your SP2 is a smart idea. There are several cheap options that you could look at with Rodriguez being my favorite of the group. Rodriguez is just way too cheap in my eyes for the way he has pitched this season. Rodriguez has pitched at least 5.2 innings in each of his four starts and has not allowed more than three runs in any of his starts while producing double-digit fantasy points in each start. Now, Rodriguez is not a big strikeout guy as he has only had more than three strikeouts in one of his starts and his advanced numbers say that he is due for some negative regression soon I don’t think it happens tonight against the Orioles. While the Orioles have not been as bad as everyone thought they would be to start the season they are still not great and rank 21st in team ISO and team wOBA against right-handed pitching this season.

Infielder to Target

Nicky Lopez-$6,500-KC

Another way to be able to afford one of the ace pitchers on this slate is by finding value hitters to roster on this slate. If you find enough value hitters you maybe even able to afford two of the studs on this slate. One of my favorite value hitters tonight is Lopez. Lopez was one of the Royals top prospects and has not disappointed since being called up. In his three games, Lopez has five hits with three doubles. Lopez has not only started his career off with a bang but he gets a fantastic match-up against Matt Harvey who is one of the worst pitchers in baseball against left-handed pitching. Since the start of 2016, Harvey is allowing left-handed hitters to slash .295/.362/.523 with a .373 wOBA and a 40.4% hard-hit rate.

Outfielder to Target

Carlos Gonzalez-$6,300-CLE

Going to stick with giving you value plays in this article for tonight’s slate. This time the value play is CarGo who should be hitting cleanup for the Indians who are one of my favorite teams to stack as they get to tee off against Dylan Bundy. Bundy is one of the worst if not the worst pitcher in baseball and has really struggled against left-handed hitting. Since the start of last season, Bundy has allowed lefties to slash .303/.370/.525 with a .382 wOBA. Gonzalez is not nearly the hitter he once was but he has been a lot better as of late and in his last nine games he has ten hits and has reached base safely multiple times in four of the games.
