Our experts share 3 core player picks for January 9, 2019, NBA DFS slate (free daily column).
Raul Neto (UTA) vs. ORL
Both Ricky Rubio and Dante Exum are out tonight which makes Neto one of your top value plays on this slate especially on DraftKings where he is only $4,300 in salary. With both players out Neto is going to start for the Jazz and is likely to play heavy minutes as he did last game when Rubio only played four minutes and Exum missed the game completely. In that game, Neto played 29 minutes and a had a solid 10/6/5 stat line on his way to 22.7 fantasy points. With the Magic being a middle of the road at best defensive team against point guards this season as they rank 14th in defensive efficiency and 20th in DRPM to the position we can expect a similar stat line from Neto tonight.
Domantas Sabonis (IND) @ BOS
I am going right back to Sabonis tonight as Myles Turner is doubtful tonight which means he is likely to miss another game. As I talked about yesterday Sabonis gets a huge boost when Turner is out and after last night’s huge game Sabonis is now averaging 16.7 points, 12 rebounds, 4.7 assists, a steal, and 39.4 fantasy points. While Boston is a much tougher match-up than the Cavs were for Sabonis I am still expecting Sabonis to have his usual big game.
Andre Drummond (DET) @ LAL
There is a time and a place to roster Drummond and this is the time and place to do so as the Lakers are awful against centers. This season the Lakers are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points per game to the position while ranking 23rd in defensive efficiency to the position. The Lakers also struggle to keep big men off the glass as they are allowing the third most rebounds per game to centers and that is the area Drummond really excels at. Drummond leads the NBA in rebounds per game at 14.9 and has grabbed at least 14 rebounds while producing at least 45 fantasy points in two straight games. I have no doubt in my mind that Drummond makes it three straight games and even with all the great center options on this slate Drummond is by far my favorite of the group.
