DraftKings Starting 5 for NFL DFS 2018-2019 Season

Week 17 NFL DFS Starting 5 – Weekly Expert DraftKings Picks & Advice

The Starting 5: Expert Fantasy Football Lineup Picks to Build a Winning NFL DFS Roster on DraftKings for Week 17 of the 2018-2019 Season.

Welcome to the FC Insights Starting 5 column for FanDuel. In this post, we highlight 5 key plays (one at each position) that we recommend for the given week of the 2018-2019 NFL DFS season. The focus of this week’s article covers the week 17 Main Slate.

The goal of the DraftKings Starting Five is to cover the best plays for the upcoming week.  It does have a cash game bias, so you will see some chalk recommendations below – but the purpose of it is to help you get a solid core foundation when it comes to building line-ups for the Week.  Make no mistake, where opportunity presents itself, we will pivot away from the chalk – but again, we want to recommend a core build that can set you up in good position for cash game success!

QB – Ben Roethlisberger, PIT – $7,000 vs. CIN

The Steelers enter the final week of the regular season in a must-win game if they have any chance of making the playoffs.  I like to go heavy on teams with something to play for in the final weeks of the season, and it’s hard to ignore the Steelers passing attack against the worst secondary in the entire league.  He isn’t cheap, but I have no problem paying up for Big Ben this week and going from there.  Edit: if you are looking to save some salary – I love Josh Allen for $6k at home against Miami.  His running gives him a high floor, and Miami does not travel well – and in a let-down spot after being officially eliminated from playoff contention in Week 16, I love Allen this week.

RB – Damien Williams, KC – $6,100 vs. OAK

The Chiefs have to win to ensure a first round bye – and even though they have an easy game on paper, hosting Oakland – I expect them to run with their main offence for a good portion of the game, at minimum.  As such – look for Williams to see 15-20 touches, including use in the passing game – and at an affordable price point, you’ll be hard pressed to find a player at an affordable price with such a high floor and ceiling on the main slate.  He has put up 19, 30.3, and 29 DKP in the past three weeks, and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

WR – Antonio Brown, PIT – $8,700 vs. CIN Edit: Juju Smith-Schuster

Much like with Big Ben above, I have no problem paying up for AB this week.  He will see double digit targets in this one, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him post one of – if not the highest total at the position this week.  The match-up is outstanding, PIT has to win – and I won’t overthink this one – he’s a rock solid play if you can afford him.

With Brown looking unlikely to play, I love Juju to see 12+ targets in this must win game for the Steelers.  He’s a great core play this week and although he’ll likely be chalky, I’d be shocked if he didn’t hit value this week for the Steelers, who will lean on him heavily to move the chains and put points on the board.

TE – Evan Engram, NYG – $5,200 vs. DAL

Engram has seen his fantasy stock skyrocket since the injury to Odell Beckham, and even though the match-up is a tough one this week – I like the chances of him seeing a large target share.  He has seen 23 targets in the past three weeks, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him see 8+ targets in this one.  He isn’t dirt cheap, but isn’t priced at a point that’ll break the bank either.  All in all – he’s a rock solid mid-priced TE for Week 17’s main slate.

DEF/ST – Steelers DST, $3,500 vs. CIN

Look for the Steelers to get after Driskel in a must-win game, and I like the chances that PIT has a big game from their DST unit.  They have a great pass rush, and I like their chances of getting after the QB multiple times and forcing more than one turnover in this one.
