Editor’s Note: The Starting Five will be offered for free, to everyone each day of the NHL Regular Season this year for the Main Slate of action.
G Sergei Bobrovsky, CLS
The Jackets are -240 favourites tonight, playing against a Detroit team that is playing out the string on the season. The Jackets have been white hot of late, with Bobrovsky picking up wins in 8 of his past 9 starts, and I like his chances of making it 9 in 10 tonight. He’s a rock solid cash game option between the pipes for Tuesday night.
- D Seth Jones, CLS
Jones was on a tear in March before being sidelined for a couple of games with an injury. He was pretty quiet upon his return, but broke out in a big way last game, with a goal and three helpers. He is known to put up points in bulk, and I love the spot he is in for tonight’s plus match-up at home against Detroit. For $6,300 – he is a great high priced spend on the back-end tonight.
- C Pierre-Luc Dubois, CLS
His price has risen – but for good reason, given the fact he has 4 goals and 2 assists in his past 3 games. He’s still afforable, with a price point of $6,100 – and the match-up is a great one for him tonight. He plays on the top line and PP unit for the Jackets, and I like his chances of having a big night on Tuesday night.
- W Taylor Hall, NJ
With no shortage of value plays on the board, Hall is a great way to spend up in cash games. In addition to his massive point streak earlier in the second half of the season, Hall continues to rack up points in bulk for the Devils. The match-up at home against the Rangers tonight is a great one, and he is my favourite play on the board tonight.
- W Timo Meier, SJ
17 SOG, 2 helpers in his past 4 games help to build an intriguing case to use Meier as a punt with upside for $4,100 tonight. Don’t worry about his current status listing him on the third line, as the Sharks like to roll through their top 9 up-front. He’s an excellent value play tonight in what should be a high scoring game against the Stars, who are playing out the string on the season after a disappointing second half.
