Free daily fantasy basketball lineup advice, picks and plays (2/27) to help you win your DFS contests.
Let’s take a closer look at some FanDuel & DraftKings NBA DFS action with our “Starting 5” picks for the day’s slate.
For those of you new to Moxyball or new to this column, welcome, and for those of you who have been reading with us since last year, welcome back.
In this column we give you a play to consider at each position and then our 6th man who will be the one player that I will be personally spending up for.
Ok… let’s jump in.
Note: The important thing with NBA DFS is to be nimble and ready to make roster changes as injury news breaks throughout the day – right around 10-15 minutes before lineup lock in particular. Just like we mentioned in our season primer article that talked to overarching strategies for success, you need to be able to lock in some key values as they emerge throughout the day to get that leg up on your competition. These picks below are being shared first thing in the day from guys we like on paper – but you never know how their outlook is going to change as the day rolls on and other attractive plays shine through.
PG – Tony Parker
I’ll save the bigger names for later and start with a very nice value play as a PG2 in cash games. At the time of posting, the HOU/SA game has the second highest point total on the board. Couple that with the fact that Parker has played excellent basketball in his last 4 games, scoring over 27 FDP in each and 30+ in 3 of those outings, and you have yourself a 5.0 ROI candidate in a game that should be close (5.5 point spread) and high-scoring.
SG – Rodney Hood
I am not convinced that spending up for your SG is going to be necessary on Saturday. Looking at the middle tiers, there are a few guys that rise to the top of my list, but none other than Rodney Hood of the Jazz. He has been excellent for Utah lately, scoring 20+ fantasy points in 9 straight games with 5 of them going over the 28 point mark. The Nets do not rank well against the SG position (or just about any position, frankly), and despite the 195 point total in this one, we should see Utah eclipse the 100 point mark as a team.
SF – Tobias Harris
There are some nice value plays at small forward on the slate, and with the options available I am going to recommend that you take advantage. Harris is averaging over 30 FDP over his last 3 games, playing at least 30 minutes in each. The DET/MIL game has the tightest spread on the board as of this point in time, and the total is over 200 as well. Look for 32-35 minutes from Harris in this one and approximately 30 FD points once again. Nothing flashy, but it will get the job done in cash games.
